However, fighting then became illegal and hence the bulldogs turned into lovers, not remaining fighters any more. Now, standing in the 21st century, bulldogs have been bred and trained to be nice, kind and gentle family pets for over 150 years.
In today’s world, bulldogs are made to participate in obedience, rally, agility and flyball contests and competitions around the world. English bulldogs are medium in size but they weigh much more than you would estimate just looking at one. English bulldogs might look small, but they weight quite a lot. An average male English bulldog would weigh approximately 50 pounds while a female English bulldog would weight approximately 40 pounds. The Female English bulldogs are generally smaller than the males and hence weight lesser. The English bulldog can be between 12-16 inches tall.
English bulldogs are quite interesting to look at, with short bodies, wide shoulders and thick and strong legs bulldogs walk as if they shuffle. These lovely creatures walk with an attitude like they own the world, with their noise up straight, they march ahead with confidence as if they know where they’re going.
These friendly and lovely creatures are really fun to be with. They might look ferocious and angry, but they’re gentle and loving. Bulldogs make amazing pets especially because they look really attractive and royal. The commanding walk that is unique to the bulldog may be the primary reason for that, but the bulldog is quite an attractive creature.
